Hyperbolic Marketing Claims

THE ORIGINAL BOSTON ICE CREAM EXPERIENCE SINCE 1975!
Was there no ice cream in Boston prior to 1975?
Or perhaps none of the pre-1975 ice cream vendors offered a tru ice cream experience?
Of course Brigham's launched in 1914 in Boston's Post Office Square so I can't really support E+Bs slogan, buit after viewing their website they seem like they offer decent value proposition so i'll probably give them a try anyway.

False Advertisers

Johnny Cupcakes ? Nope, no actual cupcakes. Plenty of Hipster quality t-shirts and Ipod covers with pictures of cupcakes though.
Plus a really slow and annoying website !

WTF? Stores

I was wondering if the Harley-Davidson Store on Newb would be open during construction .... luckily YES
More importantly I was wondering WTF is a HD store doing on Newbury? Doesn't this demogrpahic undermine the entire ethos of the brand?

Perhaps I am mistaken and there is a real Newb-vibe at Sturgis.
I think maybe i saw a Hell's Angel brunching at Stephanie's Sunday.

Double Parking

As a mixed retail / residential area with hundreds of residents who can afford, but do not use, cars, Newbury St. is something of a perfect storm of double parking.

Not only do commercial drivers (such as Fed Ex truck guys #1 and 2) take up half the road while they make quick delivery or 10, but the stereotypical Eurotrash DBag will have no qualms about also blocking the other side a few feet up the street, therebey creating an automotive challenge known as the Newbury slalom. Throw in few more DBags carelessly jaywalking while on thier cellphones and you have a truly exciting drive.

One thing I never understood was the practice of leaving one (or more)
parking tickets under your wiper blade (as seen on Fed Ex 1 above).
Do drivers think they get immunity if they already have one ticket?
I think this guy was sporting 3 or so.
If I was a BPD enforcer I'd just think "What a DBag!" and give him another

Super Duper Pantaloons

It was like a gift sent down from Jebus.
I stepped out of my office and BAM! There he was, rocking the maroon pants with golden plaid overlay. Alas, his damn shopping bag cast, cast quite a shadow over the glory that is these pants, but I think you get the idea.
Look closely at his left ankle, it appears there was some type of built in device to keep his trouser leg from becoming ensnarled in his chain if he were in fact to risk this outfit on some type of cycle.

Scooters

I like the environment as much as the next guy, but I'm willing to bet environmental concerns are not at the top of the list for most of Newbury's scooter lovers.
I suspect annoying me by blocking the sidewalk and being able to dash from one end of Newbury to the other to get from a manicure to a mid afternoon patio luncheon are the leading reasons for scooter usage in this neighborhood.

Eating Outside

Newbury DBags really like the idea of eating outside on the many restaurant patios available along this prime strip of dooshbaggery.

(pour some of your 40oz on the curb in loving memory of recently deceased DBag Hall of Famer Armani Cafe)

Of course sometimes eating outside can be very pleasant, but is fighting a 30 mile an hour wind to get your craptaucular Stephanies salad to your mouth really worth the effort?

Intro

Inspired by the world wide success of Stuff White People Like and recent walk around the block I couldn't help but want to start documenting some of the wonderful things I see every day that make me smile.
